Dear Parents and Guardians,

I know this past week, technology presented some challenges. I believe the biggest one was connectivity and staying connected. In order for video, sound and other multimedia applications to work well, it requires lots of bandwidth from your home.

Want Better Connections on Google Meets?- Here are things to try and see if students can connect better this week.

*The attached Document explains how to improve for better connections. Parents and Guardians are reminded that Chromebooks use lots of bandwidth in order to function at optimal performance. Videos, sound, images, etc. require a lot and can cause these connectivity concerns if the internet at the home is not adequate.

*If there are many devices at once connected to the same wifi, then the performance will deteriorate. I also have recommended for parents to contact their service providers to see if they can upgrade or provide better internet service.

* Don't forget this tip. We determined that some students were trying to open another application or link without opening a new tab, thus getting “kicked” out of the google meet. If a student is trying to access any items in their bookmark, they must open a new tab in order to stay on the meet. They will then open the desired item from the bookmark in their new tab. If they do not, then they will be removed from the meet.

I am also attaching a list of teacher’s email addresses and the teacher's Google Meet link for all  homeroom classes. This is to help you when you are trying to contact your child’s teacher. The district is also offering after hours help desk time from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm. It began on Monday, September 14th. Information is posted on the website.

Here is a list of information and to do’s for you.

  1. Tech support at Ritzman is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am until 1:00p.m.

  2. Remember your child’s teacher can also help you to log in and connect to meeting links.

  3. Your child’s teacher will explain more about the math tile (Pearson Easybridge). This time of year your child will need to take some specific steps in order to access. I am just letting you know, but teachers will help your child.

Learning Space

  1. Make sure you child and you are dressed appropriately for the Google Meets. Students should be dressed as if they are going to school in person, just without the uniform.

  2. All students need to be sitting at a desk or a table during structured class time. They should not be in the bed or rolling on the couch.

  3. If you have more than one child on a Google Meet in your home, please move them to separate rooms or have your children use headphones. Teachers and students can hear other classes in the background and it is distracting.

Just remember, I am here to help you solve your technology or academic concerns. Please email me with any questions at [email protected] or call Ritzman at 330-761-7903. Our substitute secretary will answer your questions at our school from 8:30 am until 3:00pm.

Please hang in there and don't give up. The success we are having is because of you!

Thank you for all you do to support your child and Ritzman Staff.

Love Ya!
