Principal's All Call 10-12-20
Posted on 10/13/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENTS WHO COMPLETED THE APS PARENT SURVEY!

I am so proud of the hard work students, parents and staff have put into this new way of learning during these first 9 weeks. Our RAMtastic staff and students have shown they can rise up to the technology challenges. As we continue with distance learning, remind your child to take good care of their Chromebooks. They should be charged nightly and should never have food or drink around them.  If you have any technology concerns, please be sure to call the school or stop by Ritzman on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 9:00 and 1:00pm for tech support.

Here are other important reminders:

  1. Make sure your child is taking the best care of their chromebook.  Just a reminder that your child has a Google Classroom for each teacher they have including art, music and gym. Open each one and see the resources inside under Classwork. All teachers are also posting communication in the stream of their classrooms.
  2. Here is the Student Handbook for the 20-21 school year.
  3. Here are the Department of Health Halloween Celebration Guidelines- please review these guidelines we must follow for our harvest parade on October 23rd. On Friday evening at 5:00p.m., there will be a Ritzman School Harvest Drive By Parade in our parking lot. Parents and students will drive through the parking lot and receive Halloween Treats from Staff and PTO. Families will also be able to sign up for their PTO membership. I am attaching a Membership Drive Form to complete to join Ritzman's PTO and a membership flyer with more information.
  4. Akron After Hours Support Center is available on Monday-Thursday  4-7 p.m. and Saturday - 10 a.m. -2 p.m. It will be closed on holidays. For more information, visit akronschools.com.
  5. Mrs. Fischer teaches 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Physical Education class on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is practicing fitness training with her students. Classes begin with stretching, warm-ups and then she uses weight lifting. She wants students to use something that is safe and low weight around the house. She is recommending 2 filled water bottles or 2 soup cans. There is no need for you to purchase anything. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Fischer at wfischer@apslearns.org
  6. Finally, the week of October 19th is Spirit Week. Monday is crazy hair day, Tuesday is Sport Day, Wednesday is School Spirit day, Thursday is Pajama day and Friday is Halloween Costume day. (No masks or accessories)

Just remember, I am here for you and so is our Assistant Principal Mrs. Rogers. Please email me with any questions at imcintos@apslearns.org or call Ritzman at 330-761-7903.

I waited as long as I could to send this all call. I was hoping to add the Board of Education’s decision about reopening plans for the 2nd nine weeks. The Board of Education is still meeting at this time. As I hear more information, I promise to share when I can.

Thank you for being Excellent Parents and Guardians who are working double hard at home to make this 100% remote successful!

Love Ya!

Mrs. M
