All Call Week of May 19-23

Good afternoon, Ritzman families,

Spring i-Ready diagnostic assessments will be in full swing this week. Please support your scholars by helping them to get plenty of sleep each night and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.

Tomorrow, which is Monday, May 19, some of our scholars will have their artwork on display at the Ellet Library from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.

This Wednesday, May 21, the Kindergarten and grade 1 and 2 scholars will present their music performance at 9:30am.

Field Day is planned for Friday, May 23. If it is raining, the rain date is the following Friday, May 30. The PTO will need many volunteers to help field day to run smoothly. If you’re able to help, click this link to sign up.

At the conclusion of this school year, our PTO president, Mrs. Timmerman, will be stepping down from her position. The PTO is in need of new leadership for the coming school year. If you are interested in filling the role of president, please reach out to Mrs. Timmerman at ritzmanpto@gmail.com. We hope that the PTO will continue to be an active organization at Ritzman in the coming school year.

On Monday, May 26, there is no school in observance of Memorial Day.

Our third graders’ chicks are due to hatch right about now! Click this link to watch the live feed from the Chickquest camera that is set up in one of our classrooms.

Akron Public Schools is currently accepting scholars for summer programming! If you would like your scholar to participate in any of the programs, please visit our district website, www.akronschools.com/summer, to search for camps by your scholar’s grade level and building for next school year. Make a special note of each camp's location. If you need assistance, please call the school or email expandedlearning@apslearns.org. Programs have limited availability.

As part of the summer programming, Hyre CLC is hosting Camp Invention for grades KG-5 this summer. Camp Invention will take place from June 23- June 27 from 9:00am - 3:00pm. Follow this link to register.

In July, there is going to be a Cleveland Browns youth football camp at Ellet High School. It’s just one day on July 8, and it’s for boys and girls. Scholars must be at least 8 years old to participate. There are fliers available in the school office.

Please continue to remind your scholars about our expectations for academics, attendance, and behavior. We want to finish the year strong.

Raffles for scholars who are on track with their attendance will continue each Wednesday through May 28. Winning scholars (and their families) will receive $20.00 Acme gift cards. Scholars can get on track (and stay on track) with their attendance by arriving at school on time each day that they are healthy and by staying for the length of the school day.

We are also celebrating Every Day in May! We want to see everyone at school, on time, every day in the month of May. Each day, scholars who are at school on time might win a delicious prize! There will be FIVE winners every day in May! We may even continue to provide prizes in June…stay tuned!

We have extra yearbooks on sale in the school office. They are $21.50.

We need the assistance of all drivers to please not block the designated handicap parking spaces by pulling up behind them. We have scholars with special needs whose families need to use those parking spaces, and we have staff members who need to park there.
