Principal's All Call 11/30/20
Posted on 12/01/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here we go! We are heading into December tomorrow with our first winter storm. Please take good care of yourself, especially as you are out and about on the roads. I do want to remind everyone that IF school is called off tomorrow, then the building will be closed, no food service and no virtual learning will occur. Please tune into a local news station in the morning. If we are open, then we will continue food service and teaching & learning online.

The next reminder is about PTO’s Secret Santa Shop. PTO is now offering a virtual Santa’s Secret Shop for your child. Every year our PTO volunteers set up and facilitate Santa Shop at school so that students can experience the joy of shopping, wrapping and giving gifts to their beloved family members. Santa Shop’s virtual shopping days begin today through December 4th.  The items will be delivered to Ritzman for easy pick-up. I am attaching a flyer for you to review. Teachers put a reminder in their Google Classroom stream today.

Speaking of online, please remember our online expectations. Students cameras should be on. If for some reason, your child is unable to do so,  let me know. Teachers will also be reaching out to parents where students have their cameras off during class. It is difficult to engage students when teachers and tutors can not see them.

In addition, while your child is completing assessments or other schoolwork, let your child complete on their own. Teachers will not get an accurate assessment of their abilities or where they need more support, if we do not get a true look at their work.

Another Important reminder is I-Ready. This is a practice learning tool that will create an individualized path based on students’ answers. They MUST complete independently. Starting tomorrow and going through December 18th, students will be taking their diagnostic assessment in reading and math on I-Ready. Teachers will communicate the day and time of their assessment. Students must complete on their own.

Don’t forget to check HAC, home access regularly. You may check daily or weekly on your child’s progress and assignments. Make a note of the areas you are concerned about. Focus on the learning, not just grades. Be prepared to ask your child’s teacher questions about their progress at our upcoming interim conferences on December 10th. Teachers will be sending an invite to conferences for you. If you do not hear from your child’s teacher by Friday, please email them to request a conference.

We have the next set of items for you to pick up for your child in the main office. Each child will need to pick up volume 2 of their math workbook. Again, make sure they are responsible and take care of their book. We do not have extras for when they are misplaced. There are also art supplies for every student. Mrs. Knopp needs students to have these resources.

Finally, a huge THANK YOU to PTO and everyone that donated to the food drive. Families who picked up the food items for Thanksgiving were extremely grateful and appreciative!!!!!

Here are a few quick announcements.
