Principal's All Call 9/28/20

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this finds everyone healthy and well. I know we have still been experiencing some technology  challenges this past week. Please continue to work with your internet provider to work on better connectivity. In order for video, sound and other multimedia applications to work well, it requires powerful internet from your home. If there are many devices at once connected to the same wifi, then the performance will deteriorate.

This past week and continuing this week, homeroom teachers will be having students take their I-Ready Diagnostic assessment. This is an important assessment as it will set the pathway in I-Ready for students until December (ish). There were lots of problems with the I-Ready site as well as microphone issues. Be sure your child understands to be very quiet during testing and there should be NO background noise or distractions. Thank you!

In addition, the district will be providing After-Hours Support Center- High-quality educators and tutors will use Google Meets to tutor students and clarify lessons and homework assigned by the classroom teacher. The first level of support for students is his or her classroom teacher. However, evening time supports are critical elements that allow students the opportunity to get help with questions, concerns, or content that he or she may be struggling with while completing assignments independently.  After-Hours will run each evening, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. beginning in October.

Here are some reminders I have shared before.

Technology

  1. Tech support at Ritzman is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am until 1:00p.m.
  2. Remember your child’s teacher can also help you to log in and connect to meeting links.

Learning Space

  1. Make sure you child and you are dressed appropriately for the Google Meets. Students should be dressed as if they are going to school in person, just without the uniform.
  2. All students need to be sitting at a desk or a table during structured class time. They should not be in the bed or rolling on the couch.
  3. If you have more than one child on a Google Meet in your home, please move them to separate rooms or have your children use headphones. Teachers and students can hear other classes in the background and it is distracting.

Finally, some super good news is here. Ritzman PTO board members have met and have begun planning some events that we can accomplish while social distancing. I am attaching three flyers. One is an overview of upcoming events and the other two are about the fundraiser night for Ritzman PTO at Chipotle. Ritzman PTO Facebook continues to be a source of information and connection. Be reminded it is a social media app for positivity about our school and community.

Just remember, I am here for you and so is our new Assistant Principal Mrs. Rogers. Please email me with any questions at imcintos@apslearns.org or call Ritzman at 330-761-7903. The secretary is usually there between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Remember we are going through a transition of secretarial staff. Please hang in there and don't give up. We can continue to have success!

Thank you for all you do to support your child and Ritzman Staff.

Love Ya!

Mrs. M
