Principal's All Call April 22, 2020
Posted on 04/22/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and safe.

I know you have taken on some new roles like juggling your own work, your child’s school work and keeping up with the household responsibilities that come with running a home. I wanted to call and give you a few updates. Please forgive me if this gets a little long.

As you probably already know, Governor DeWine has decided for schools to continue remotely for the remainder of the school year. Teachers were charged with assigning lessons that are engaging and fun. In addition, they are planning these lessons around the grade level material that needs to be taught at this time in the school year.

Here are a few reminders about our Google Online Learning:

*KG & 1st   must join their teacher’s and Mrs. Knopp’s art Google Classrooms.

2nd and 3rd must join their teacher’s and Mrs. Heinl’s music Google Classrooms.

4th and 5th must join their teacher’s and their P.E. teacher’s Google Classrooms.

*In addition if you have questions about a posted assignment from a support staff member, please email them directly. The homeroom teacher may not know the specifics of the assignment.

*An adult must monitor children while they are completing assignments online each day. Students have work in both Google Classroom and I-Ready.

*Here is a special message for 5th students.  Fifth grade students are to check their emails OR google classroom STREAMS daily to get the meeting code and join their teachers for 5th grade google meets. 5th graders MUST check in with a teacher EACH week and turn in assignments on time.

Here are some general school updates:

*Incoming Kindergarten students may register online. If you or if you know someone who has a kindergartener, please go to www.akronschools.com to register.

*We have received class pictures/composites from Lifetouch and yearbooks are being printed. These will remain secured like other student items in the school. Our superintendent is working with the Department of Health to determine when we can set a date (s) for students to come and retrieve items like yearbooks, personal items and class pictures. I will keep you posted once I hear any updates.

*3rd and 4th grade students! Mrs. Myer, our school counselor, sent an Ambassador Application to you and your parent. Please complete the Google Form if you are interested in becoming an Ambassador for the 2020-2021 school year. Mrs. Myer will answer any questions. Just be sure to complete by April 30th!

Parents and Guardians,

Believe it or not, you are making memories with your children during this time even though you are exhausted and stressed. I know you put on a bold face for your children without knowing what will happen next. I understand that! I understand you and appreciate you so much. HANG IN THERE! You are doing an AMAZING job!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher, counselor or email me at imcintos@apslearns.org.

Finally, please tell your children I miss them and give them a super big hug from me.

Sincerely,

Mrs. McIntosh
