Principal's All Call February 17, 2020
Posted on 02/17/2020

Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is Mrs. McIntosh calling with our weekly message at 6.

We have another short week with only 4 days of school.

We have only two events happening this week at Ritzman. On Wednesday, February 19th, PTO will be having their monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. On Friday, PTO will be having a treat sale after school.

This is our final week before we head into testing season. MAP testing will begin the week of February 24th and English Language Arts OST testing begins on March 23rd. We need students to get plenty of rest at night and arrive to school on time, 8:15 a.m.

Here are a couple of other reminders.

We have had a couple of mornings where the parking lot entrance is blocked and staff cannot enter the parking lot. We are looking for other options for our drop off in the morning in order to reduce the traffic jam on Stetler and in our staff parking lot.

It is very important to review your child’s Home Access on-line at home. In addition meet with your child’s teacher, especially if your child is earning a D or F in a subject and/or if you received a possibility of retention letter. Elementary school is the foundation for later learning. We want to make sure your child is receiving an Excellent education at Ritzman.

Attendance is most important. Every Minute Counts! Research shows students who miss 10 percent of school, or two days per month, show negative academic progress. Third Grade Reading Level with Poor attendance can keep children from reading proficiently by the end of third grade. Excused Absences Hurt Too Excused absences are just as negative as unexcused ones. Tardies are also a part of attendance. Every Minute Matters! If a student is 10 minutes late to school each day, this adds up to missing more than 33 hours of class time. Have your children at school, on time and ready to learn.

In saying how important attendance is, please Keep Sick Children at Home. They need to stay home, if your child has a fever, vomiting and or severe diarrhea.

Remember, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call and speak to your child’s teacher or you can call me at 330-761-7903 or email me immediately at imcintos@apslearns.org. Have a good night and remember that tomorrow is a holiday, President Day, February 17th and there will be no school. We will see everyone on Tuesday!
