Principal's All Call January 13, 2020
Posted on 01/14/2020

Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is Mrs. McIntosh calling with our weekly message at 6.

Welcome to January!  It is so hard to believe that winter break is over and 2020 has begun! We truly hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing winter vacation!  This school year is going by so quickly. We are happy for a new year, there is a sense of excitement. Once again, we are so grateful for everyone’s focus on our excellent teaching and learning here at Ritzman.

As winter is here and snow is coming! There is a chance for extremely dangerous snow covered roads. Plan a few extra minutes during these winter months to get safely to and around Ritzman CLC. As the snow piles up, the streets and parking lot can become more difficult to maneuver. Be aware of the proper places for dropping off students and parking during winter.  In the event of snow days, listen for an all call or school closings on the local news.  If the forecast calls for bad weather, please be sure to tune in to local radio or television stations in the morning so that you will be aware of any delays, early closings or cancellations that may be made.  Notices are issued as early as possible by the Superintendent after consultation with the highway department and the bus company. The district’s All Call system will be used to send a phone message. Please know the decision is made with safety as the primary concern.

Here are some other reminders:

Ritzman 5th grade student council students will be collecting clean coke cans. They are collecting these as a project for the month of January. Any student, parent or staff may drop off the clean coke cans right inside door 8 from 7:50 until 8:15 a.m. daily. Do NOT bring to the Main Office.

Just a reminder, make sure your child wears a winter coat, hat and gloves in order to keep warm and healthy.  In addition, regularly check your child’s book bag and coat for any toys or items that should not be brought to school. The last reminder is to call off your child each and every day they will be absent from school.

Here are some events later in January:

There is no school for students on Friday, January 17th and on Monday, January 20th. Friday is an in-service day for teachers and Monday is Martin Luther King’s birthday.

PTO will be having laser quest night on January 19th.

COSI will be presenting Energy on Tuesday, January 21st. Look for more information about volunteering for this PTO event.

Finally, don’t forget about Girls on the Run for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade girls. Registration opens on January 28th at www.gotrneo.org.

Remember, if you have any questions about these weekly all calls, please call 330-761-7903 or email me at imcintos@apslearns.org. Have a good night and we will see you on Monday!
