Principal's All Call June 2, 2020
Posted on 06/03/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have 2 days of school left for this school year! Students’ last day of school is June 4th. Attendance is taken and it is based on your child’s participation in the Google Meets and in assignments that are turned in to their teachers.

Speaking of technology, we have one HUGE favor to ask… would you please complete a parent survey about technology and online learning?  Your responses will be helpful for future adventures in Google Online Learning. (Link to Survey)

Mr. Canavan and Ritzman Staff have created a Virtual Field Day. Your child’s classroom teacher has posted a link to Ritzman Virtual Field Day Website in their Google Classroom on the Stream. Field Day videos using Flipgrid accepted until June 5th.

Here are reminders:

End of School ParadeJune 4th 5:30-6:30 p. m. Students and parents may drive slowly through the Ritzman parking lot on June 4th starting at 5:30pm. The Building will be closed and no entrance allowed. All students, parents and visitors must stay in their vehicles and continue to move slowly through the parking lot.

Ritzman staff has completed the annual 5th grade Farewell Video and a Bitmoji Farewell Message. I am attaching a copy of (video link) and (message link) here. Each homeroom teacher will also post in their Google Classroom Stream. ENJOY!

Kindergarten registration is also open. Any guardian may go to www.akronschools.com.  In the yellow COVID box on the right hand side is a link for registration for 2020-2021.

Here are some care tips for Chromebooks for over the summer- When cleaning the Chromebook, be sure to turn off and unplug. Clean the screen with a soft, dry antistatic or microfiber cloth. Apply only soft pressure when disinfecting the area around the keyboard. Too much pressure could damage the keys. . Students will keep their Chromebooks over the summer. If a student is moving and NOT attending Akron Public Schools next year, they will need to return their Chromebook either to Ritzman or Ellet High School during the designated times of 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

I can’t even begin to describe in words what the last 9 weeks have been like for teachers and administrators. I know this has been completely different from anything we imagined in education. We want to say, Thank you so much for working so hard during this pandemic. Parents, you daily faced new technology challenges, busy work schedules, house cleaning and the care of your precious children. You did it all!”  We love you and appreciate you, parents and guardians! Continue to call me at 330-761-7903 or email me at (imcintos@apslearns.org).

Sincerely,

Mrs. M
