Principal's All Call May 4, 2020
Posted on 05/04/2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the month of May!
We have a little over 20 days of school left for this school year.
I know many of you are getting restless at home and anxious for the next step in closing school before summer break.
I will continue to do my best to keep you informed as soon as I hear specifics from the board of education. We will have a couple of days coming up in May for students to come in to pick up any remaining items they have left at school. If your child took everything home, then I would encourage you not to come to the building until we have a community get together to celebrate our 5th graders, PTO and each other. At any time you are leaving your home, it is recommended to wear a face covering like a mask. As we prepare for the last item pick-up, students must need to wear a mask and only 10 people at a time will be admitted into the school. More details will come later.

As for updates for this first week in May, Marking Period 4 interim progress reports are being mailed home today. Inside of the envelope you will receive your child's interim report. This will reflect if your child has been completing online work which is required at this time. Your child can improve their grade by completing assignments in their teachers' Google Classrooms. You will also find a letter about the interim grades and it will explain the O S and/or U grades. The final item is a flyer for kindergarten registration. If you know any children who are ready for kindergarten, please share the flyer with them. I have also attached a copy of the letter sent in the interim envelope.

I hope everyone saw the Ramtastic Hello! from our staff. Our staff really are good troopers during these difficult and changing times. In case you missed it, I am linking it here as it is too large to attach as a PowerPoint.

Finally, this week is usually the week we celebrate teachers and staff for Teacher Appreciation. I have attached a list of our teachers and staff with their email address on the far right in case your child would like to send a message or video to them. I am sure teachers will be thrilled to hear from their students. Here are some ideas for this week.

Monday, May 4th- Have your child write an email to a support staff member; custodian, counselor, tutors, physical or occupational therapist, speech therapist

Tuesday, May 5th-  Have your child write a note of gratitude or appreciation and send it to their classroom teacher and/or special education teacher via email.

Wednesday, May 6th-  Have your child write a note of gratitude or appreciation to a specialist teacher like Art, Music, Physical Education, or any other staff member via email

Thursday, May 7th-  Have your child draw a picture or create something special to take a picture with their chromebook and share with a staff member to show appreciation.

Friday, May 8th-  Flipgrid Friday: Please have your child use this link to send a video to a Ritzman staff member! Simply go to flipgrid.com and enter the code ritzmanstaff if the link in this email didn't work. These will be visible to all staff, students, and families!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being flexible and committed to your child's education during this time. We know it is very difficult. Continue to call or email your child's teacher or myself (imcintos@apslearns.org) with anything you may need support with during this online learning.

Sincerely,

Mrs. M
