Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is Mrs. McIntosh calling with our weekly message at 6. 

Remember that PTO is still collecting can goods for our Ritzman Families. The drive will run until November 15th. Please check the dates and DO NOT send expired can good and nonperishables.

On Tuesday, November 12th, we are having our annual reading night. We will have door #8 opened at 6:00 p.m. This year our theme is a 3-Ring Circus. We will share about fiction, nonfiction and technology around reading and language arts.

On Saturday, PTO will be having their annual craft show here at Ritzman from 10 am until 4 pm. Please stop by and check out the over 40 vendors.

Here are events later this month:

At the end of the month, PTO will have their monthly meeting on Thursday the 21st at 6:00 p.m. Then on Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th, students may pay $2 to dress down as a PTO fundraiser.

 

There will be no school for students on the 27th of November. Due to students not being here on that day, we will have our monthly perfect attendance breakfast on November 26th. Thanksgiving break will be on the 28th and 29th of November.

 

Finally, here are two concerns.

The first is that students are running and playing in the church parking lot. Remember to monitor students and not let them play in the lot where vehicles are moving. When parking in the lot, be courteous and only take one space. We have many parents and visitors that use the lot at arrival and dismissal times.

The second concern is that several students are not following the APS dress code.

Beginning at the end of the last school year, our building leadership team discussed us being more consistent as a staff to monitor and uphold the Board of Education’s uniform policy. Currently, when a student is not compliant, a violation letter is sent home.  These are the most frequent violations:

1.    Girls wearing jegging and/or leggings alone. These must be worn under shorts, skirts or jumpers. Be Careful! Many stores make parents think they are buying Akron Public School's “uniform approved” pants when they are not. Akron’s policy states “uniform style, classic fit. Tight fitting stretchy pants to the legs do not meet the criteria.

2.    Hoodies that are worn within the school building must be solid color and no logos.

3.    Shirts must be solid color and have a collar.
