Principal's All Call September 9, 2019
Posted on 09/09/2019

Good Evening Parents and Guardians,

This is Mrs. McIntosh calling with our weekly message at 6

We did it! This week was very busy with all students being in the building, but kindergarten students had an amazing first week of school! Thank you parents and guardians for having them prepared.

Here are some events for this week:

On Tuesday we will be having our Parent Meeting for Chromebooks. We will begin at 5:30 p.m. You do need to attend beginning at the 5:30 time.  A parent invite went home on Friday with kindergarten and new students to Ritzman. If you and your child are returning students and did not complete the paperwork and meeting last year, here is your opportunity.

On Wednesday, all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade gifted and talented signed parent letters are due back to Mrs. McIntosh. If you did not receive, please give me a call.

On Friday, PTO will be having our 1st bi-weekly treat sale. Students are to exit the building and go to door 8 for the sale after school, 2:30 p.m.

Here are other important announcements to remember:

If you borrowed a Chromebook for the summer, all the parts and the Chromebook should be returned to school. We still have a few missing Chromebooks and Chromebook adapters. If not returned, there will be a fee added to your child’s account to cover the cost to replace.

Teachers have demonstrated and practiced our Ritzman Playground expectations. Please review these with your child at home. The biggest concerns are keeping hands & feet to self and leaving mulch, stick and rocks on the ground. Thank you for talking to your child. This will help us keep everyone safe and healthy.

Please be considerate in the mornings and wait until 7:50 to arrive at school for drop off. Staff needs to access the parking lot. If cars are waiting, stop prior to the cross walk by the yellow poles to allow staff to enter the parking lot. The church parking lot is always available for parents to park and to allow students to walk over at 7:50 a.m. When dropping off, Drivers need to drive slowly through our parking lot, stop at the curb and have their child exit the car quickly. Dismissal is at 2:30 p.m. The parking lot will be closed and only daycare and school transportations may enter. Parents and drivers may park near the school or at the church next door and walk over to meet their children.

Many of our students have allergies and food restrictions. When you have made arrangements with your child’s classroom teacher to bring in a birthday celebration, look for alternative ideas. The birthday child could donate a book to the classroom or ask the teacher for a birthday extra recess time. If your child wants to bring in a food treat, it must be individually wrapped and in its original box/container.  It cannot be homemade.

  • Father’s Fame Walk, Thursday, September 19th
  • Fall School Picture Day- Friday, September 20th- Flyers will go home on Monday the 9th.
  • PTO News: Lembos Gives Back (every Tuesday in September) When you visit, eat and tell them you support Ritzman and Lembos will donate back to our PTO.

On a final positive note, we had two students, Lillian and Sophia, who completed ALL FIVE summer reading challenges! Way to go, Lillian and Sophia!  They received prizes out of the Ritzman Ramtastic Treasure Chest and our library media services is ordering them a book of their choice as a reward. When you see these students, please be sure to congratulate them.

If you have any questions about these weekly all calls, please call 330-761-7903 or email me at imcintos@apslearns.org.
